Fidelio Cafe, EC1R 5BX , [Venue Details]Join us as we celebrate Django’s iconic artistry with a night of hot swing in the downstairs bar of the cafe.
Django Reinhardt was a groundbreaking and influential jazz guitarist who lived from 1910 to 1953. Born in Belgium and raised in France, Reinhardt was of Romani descent and became known for his incredible talent despite a tragic event that severely damaged two fingers of his left hand. Reinhardt developed a unique style of playing that combined his virtuosic technique with the expressive melodies of Romani music and the swing rhythms of jazz. He co-founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France with violinist Stéphane Grappelli, popularizing the genre of gypsy jazz. Reinhardt’s contributions to jazz guitar and his innovative improvisations continue to inspire musicians around the world.
Our talented musicians draw inspiration from modern manouche, traditional Django and even classical greats, creating a special homage to the legendary guitarist.
